Get yourself the following…

  • Bowl or small bucket
  • Clean rag
  • Find grade 000 steel wool
  • Household bleach
  • Mineral spirits
  • Oxalic acid
  • Stain and re-staining supplies
  • Finish and re-finishing supplies
  • Vinegar
  • Water

 

Now, you’re going to have to use these steps correctly in order to get rid of the stains that are stuck in your floor.

  • Ensure that the area you’re going to be working in is well-ventilated (open your windows and put on the fan). Also make sure to read and follow all safety directions on the items you’re going to use.
  • Now, use steel wool and mineral spirits to rub the stained area.
  • Wet the rag with vinegar and position it over the stain, then let it sit there for a while.
  • If you see that the stain has been lightened by this, then repeat as needed.
  • Now, mix a half-way solution of bleach and water and then put it on the stain. Try to only apply the solution on the area that is stained.
  • Add oxalic acid to the stain (and avoid other areas of the floor) if you don’t see that the stain has lightened from the prior treatments.
  • If you see that the spot you treated is now stain-free, you can now use acid to neutralize the area.
  • When the area is dry, sand the area, stain it and then refinish it so that it blends in to the floor like no stain ever existed.
